FLTA

Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Orientation

The FLTA summer orientation is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education. The MSU FLTA  orientation is hosted by the Center of Language Teaching Advancement , the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages and the Department of Romance and Classical Studies.

The purpose of the program is to provide Fulbright FLTAs an introduction to the academic and social culture of the American system and culture.

Working for the orientation expanded my network and group of friends beyond MSU. I’ve been able to meet and stay connected with people from Malaysia, Brazil, France, etc. I’ve also been able to learn a little bit about different languages, culture, and the  difference in food and meals.
