FLTA

Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Orientation

The FLTA summer orientation (4 days) is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education. The MSU FLTA  orientation is hosted by the Center of Language Teaching Advancement , the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages and the Department of Romance and Classical Studies.

The purpose of the program is to provide Fulbright FLTAs an introduction to the academic and social culture of the American system and culture.

My participation with the orientation taught me about cross cultural sensitivity and cultural awareness. The understanding that that culture exists and can differ between groups of people. This has helped me in my studies in Anthropology and studying abroad.
